Kuala Lumpur, Pikirkan.com – The Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, held a bilateral meeting today with the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), H.E. António Guterres, on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on enhancing cooperation under the ASEAN-UN Comprehensive Partnership, in anticipation of the upcoming 15th ASEAN-UN Summit scheduled for 27 October 2025.
Dr. Kao and Mr. Guterres reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening collaboration between ASEAN and the UN, particularly in advancing peace, sustainable development, and regional resilience. The discussion also touched on joint efforts to address global challenges such as climate change, food security, and digital transformation.
The meeting underscored the importance of maintaining close coordination between ASEAN and the UN to ensure that multilateralism remains effective in addressing emerging regional and global issues. Both sides expressed optimism that the 15th ASEAN-UN Summit will further solidify the partnership and produce concrete outcomes that benefit the peoples of Southeast Asia and the broader international community.
